4 Favorite Hair Hacks for Natural Curls

1. Deep Moisture to Keep Frizz at Bay

Moisture, moisture, moisture! Moisture is the key to having gorgeous hair. I noticed that when I keep my hair very moisturized it actually “tames the main” and as a curly girl you know that can be tricky. Whether your hair is curly or not, keeping those tresses moisturized is the key to beautiful soft hair and preventing the all so stressful split ends. My hair has a tendency to dry out quickly when not moisturized properly, and I noticed that there are a lot of products that simply don’t have the quality ingredients I need to maintain beautiful locks. To moisturize and keep my hair healthy, I have been using shampoos, conditioners and leave ins by KEVIN.MURPHY.

2. Detangle from Ends up Eliminate Breakage

So basically combing your hair can get tricky as a curly girl. The best thing you can do is learn how to detangle the right way. I noticed that when I detangle my hair with a leave in moisturizer like MOTION.LOTION or KILLER.CURLS while damp, I get the best results. I also noticed that detangling from the ends of your hair up, eliminates breakage and many times I use my fingers to finger detangle each section of my hair to really minimize breakage and also help define and separate each curl.

3. Use a Microfiber Towel for Quick Drying without the Frizz + Damage

After I am done detangling it’s time for drying! I used to dry my hair with a normal towel, but it would always end up a frizzy mess when done. When I learned that your hair is its weakest when wet, I found out about microfiber towels and how using a microfiber towel can reduce frizz in your styles and keep your hair sleek and beautiful instead of damaged while drying, I was all into switching to a microfiber towel! I have been using the Louvelle microfiber towels and completely obsessed with how stylish these are and its perfect if you want to dry your hair on the go, they double as a posh head wrap which I find super gorgeous. Plus, the high quality microfiber really protects my tressed during drying and leaves my hair soft with minimal frizz compared to a normal towel.

4. Diffuse and  Heat Protect

Lastly, diffusing is a great final step in my current curly hair routine. It’s getting cold over here and although I normally air dry in the summer months, as winter approaches I tend to diffuse so I don’t have to leave the house during the cold months with damp hair. However, any heat appliance like a blow dryer can cause damage to your hair. I have been using HEATED.DEFENSE by love KEVIN.MURPHY to protect my curls when drying with a diffuser and I haven’t noticed any heat damage, plus I LOVE the smell. My hair smells so nice and feels amazing as a final result. This stuff protects against 450 degrees, so you are safe even with the highest levels of styling tools, which I love as well.
